We hope you use this site as an emotional, inspirational and informational resource. We support and promote amazing mothers like yourself, we encourage you to share your wisdom and experiences. It hasn't been easy juggling the responsibilities of HMC and getting our kids to their activities on time, we're still not really sure how we're doing it all. MD moms, Diane Troung M.D and J J Levenstein M.D both board certified pediatricians .
Dr. Diane has been in pediatric practice for more than ten years. She graduated cum laude from UC San Diego, attended medical school at UC Davis and completed her pediatric residency at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles . After her residency training, she dedicated her early years in practice to treating and caring for underserved children in communities without easy access to health care. Through her practice in a community clinic, Dr. Diane helped develop policies that provided high quality preventive and emergency care to children with limited resources.
Her passion to treat children was inspired by her own family's immigration to the United States . Dr. Diane was born in Vietnam , and arrived in the United States in 1975. Her parents essentially left everything behind, and worked very hard to assimilate into their new lives in America . As a result, Dr. Diane grew up immersed in an atmosphere of determination and diligence, with an emphasis on obtaining an excellent education, and on maintaining strong ties to both family and community.
These values motivated her to become a pediatrician, and to devote her career to promoting the wellness of children of all ages. Today Dr. Diane is a partner with a major multi-specialty group, where she enjoys combining her clinical practice with volunteer work in local school-based clinics. She was an active member of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee in her hospital, has been honored by the Consumers' Research Council of America with a listing as one of "America's Top Pediatricians 2007" , and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr. JJ has spent the last quarter of a century caring for children. After that, she graduated summa cum laude with a second undergraduate degree from Duke University , and completed training as a Physician Assistant with a specialty in Pediatrics at Norwalk Hospital/Yale University. She then moved to Los Angeles , where she served as a pediatric Physician Assistant with a large HMO. Five years later, she was accepted at the Keck School of Medicine at USC, during which time she got married, had a baby, and finished in four years! While at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles , she was acknowledged as the outstanding pediatric intern, and was also recognized as one of the top three graduating residents in her class. Dr. JJ and Dr. Diane became fast friends during their training at CHLA and the MD Moms have been friends and colleagues ever since!
Today, Dr. JJ has a thriving private practice in Southern California . She too is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and serves on the clinical staff of three hospitals. She was voted one of the Best Doctors in America in 2004 and 2005. She remains committed to teaching, whether it is in the hospital setting, or by having medical students or pediatric residents rotate through her office. More importantly, she is dedicated to connecting with parents and children beyond traditional office hours, by offering evening seminars in her office that cover topics ranging from behavioral/emotional issues to CPR to nutrition.
In addition to her practice, Dr. JJ is committed to promoting infant and child health by serving as an educational speaker, lecturing about the role of key nutritional elements in breast milk, and their positive effects on infant brain development. She has also written the foreword to the best-selling book, Secrets of the Baby Whisperer .
